SG Lawyer Reviews aims to correct material factual errors promptly and transparently after they are identified and verified.
We distinguish between:
- A factual error
- A disputed interpretation
- An editorial opinion
- Information that was accurate when published but later changed
- A typographical or formatting issue
- A request to remove accurate but unfavourable content
Disagreement with a review or ranking does not, by itself, establish that a correction is required.
What May Be Corrected
Examples include:
- An incorrect lawyer name
- An outdated position or law firm
- An incorrect office address
- An inaccurate practice area
- An incorrect admission or qualification detail
- An inaccurate description of a service
- An incorrect date
- A misattributed quotation
- An inaccurate description of a public decision
- An incorrect fee
- An incorrect statement about a commercial relationship
What Is Not Normally a Correction
The following will not normally be changed through the corrections process:
- A fair editorial opinion
- A properly attributed user opinion
- A ranking position based on our methodology
- A conclusion supported by the available evidence
- A stylistic preference
- A request to replace independent copy with promotional copy
- A demand to remove accurate information because it is unfavourable
Such matters may instead be considered under our Right-of-Reply Policy.
How to Submit a Correction
Send the following information to [corrections email address]:
- Your name
- Your relationship to the subject
- The page URL
- The precise statement you dispute
- The correction you request
- An explanation of why the published information is inaccurate
- Supporting documents or authoritative sources
- Your contact details
General statements such as “this article is wrong” may not provide enough information for investigation.
Identity and Authority
We may request evidence of identity or authority, particularly when a request concerns:
- A lawyer profile
- A law firm profile
- Personal information
- Confidential information
- A request submitted on another person’s behalf
Documents supplied for verification will be handled in accordance with our privacy practices.
Our Review Process
After receiving a sufficiently detailed request, we may:
- Review the published content.
- Check the sources used.
- Examine the supporting evidence.
- Contact the writer or editor.
- Contact other relevant parties.
- Seek additional information.
- Consult an independent professional where appropriate.
- Correct, clarify, update, annotate, or retain the content.
We will aim to acknowledge requests within a reasonable period. Complex requests may require additional time.
Correction Outcomes
A request may result in:
- A factual correction
- An explanatory clarification
- Updated information
- An editor’s note
- A correction notice
- An added response from the affected party
- No change
- Removal or restriction in exceptional circumstances
We may explain our decision, although we are not required to disclose confidential editorial discussions, privileged communications, security information, or private source details.
Correction Notices
Material errors may be accompanied by a notice explaining:
- What was incorrect
- What was changed
- The date of correction
Minor spelling, grammar, formatting, or layout changes may be made without a notice.
Personal Data Corrections
Where a request concerns personal data, it may also be handled under applicable data protection requirements and our Privacy Policy.
The Personal Data Protection Commission identifies accuracy, access, and correction as data protection obligations. Its guidance states that individuals may request correction of personal data held by an organisation, subject to applicable requirements and exceptions.
A request to correct personal data is not necessarily the same as a request to alter a fair editorial opinion or remove lawfully published information.
Historical Content
We may preserve an original publication date and add an update when information has changed.
For example, if a lawyer later joins another firm, we may update the profile while preserving relevant historical context.
