Purpose
SG Lawyer Reviews supports fair and constructive participation by lawyers, law firms, and other persons who are the subjects of our editorial content.
This policy explains how an affected party may respond to a review, ranking, comparison, news article, directory listing, or other publication.
Who May Request a Reply
A reply may be requested by:
- A lawyer featured in an article
- An authorised representative of a law firm
- A person directly named in the content
- An organisation directly discussed
- A person authorised to act for the affected party
We may request evidence of identity or authority before processing a response.
What a Reply May Address
A reply may:
- Provide relevant context
- Dispute an editorial conclusion
- Explain a service or policy
- Respond to significant criticism
- Correct a misunderstanding
- Identify subsequent developments
- State the firm’s position
- Explain why certain information was unavailable
A factual error should also be identified under our Corrections Policy.
How to Submit a Reply
Send the following to [right-of-reply email address]:
- Your name and position
- The organisation you represent
- The article URL
- The statement or conclusion being addressed
- Your proposed response
- Supporting information
- Confirmation that you are authorised to provide the response
Replies should be concise, professional, and directly relevant.
Publication of Replies
We may publish a reply:
- In full
- In edited form
- As a summary
- As an editor’s note
- Within the relevant article
- On a separate response page
- Through a link from the original content
We will not materially alter the meaning of an accepted reply without good reason.
We may edit for:
- Length
- Clarity
- Grammar
- Repetition
- Formatting
- Relevance
- Privacy
- Confidentiality
- Legal risk
Where edits are substantial, we may ask the submitting party to confirm the revised wording.
Replies We May Decline
We may decline or remove a reply that:
- Contains threats
- Uses abusive or discriminatory language
- Includes confidential client information
- Identifies children or vulnerable persons unnecessarily
- Contains unsupported allegations
- Infringes privacy or intellectual property rights
- Is primarily promotional
- Is unrelated to the publication
- Misrepresents SG Lawyer Reviews
- Attempts to pressure us into a commercial arrangement
- Is unlawful
- Creates a serious and unjustified risk to another person
No Editorial Control
The right to reply does not give the subject:
- Editorial approval rights
- A right to remove accurate content
- A right to dictate ranking position
- A right to replace independent analysis with marketing copy
- A right to prevent future coverage
- A right to demand disclosure of confidential sources
We retain final editorial control.
No Retaliation
A firm will not be penalised in a review or ranking merely because it:
- Requests a correction
- Exercises a right of reply
- Declines an interview
- Disagrees with our opinion
- Refuses to purchase advertising
Likewise, a reply does not guarantee that our original assessment will change.
Updating a Reply
A published response may be updated when:
- The underlying facts change
- The original response contains an error
- A legal or regulatory development affects it
- Both parties agree that clarification is appropriate
